I’m not sure who invented the Havana Twist hairstyle or who came up with the name, but it’s a look I started seeing last summer and I finally got around to trying it myself a couple weeks back in late August. Stylist Zarah Charm did my install (video here) and it took her less than two hours! Impressive – huh? Yea, I was thrilled because after about two hours I start getting really fidgety so being about to get in and out was a blessing.
The whole reason I decided to do a protective style with extensions is because I got tired of spending so much time on my hair. I needed a mini break and so I knew a style like Havana Twists would help me to cut down the time I was spending on my hair.
In the beginning I wasn’t too sure that the style would fit my face, but when Zarah finished my hair I was in love. The twists aren’t half as heavy as they look and they were pretty easy to maneuver. Most of the time when I get extensions I wear one look, a ponytail or I just where them down and loose. With my havana twists I was able to come up with several looks that didn’t require any hair ties or bobby pins and I also got to play around with height and shapes. I did way more styling then I planned to, but it was so quick and easy that I didn’t event mind.
