Have you hesitated to start a natural hair blog because of concerns about the amount of competition you’d face? Have you been deterred because it feels like everyone is doing it or perhaps you’re concerned that it is too much work?
I strongly encourage all naturals to blog about their natural hair journey and here is #2 of my 5 Reasons Why You Should Blog Your Natural Hair Journey.
In my last blog post, I explained that the #1 reason you should blog about your natural hair journey is because there is a NEED out there. There is an audience who wants to know all the details that you have to share about your “going natural” experience.
Reason #2 why I think you should blog about your hair journey is because you have a unique story to tell that is going to resonate with someone and change their life.
I’ve heard naturals say they are too scared to start blogging because they feel like everyone has already discussed what they want to share. Other naturals are concerned they will run out of topics to write about and then there are those who worry about sharing themselves and being so public with a personal journey.
Listen, it’s one thing if you don’t have any desire to blog your natural hair journey, I respect that and I’m not hear to talk you into blogging or to attempt to force you into blogging. This message isn’t for you. This message is for those who would like to blog about going natural, but maybe you are scared, you don’t know where to start, or you for whatever reason feel discouraged, this post series is for you.
I believe that natural hair bloggers have the power to change the “face” of beauty and more importantly natural hair bloggers have the power to change the self esteem of young curlgirls around the world.
If a primary concern of yours is redundancy and concern with becoming a needle in a haystack of natural hair bloggers, allow me to remind you that you are beautifully and wonderfully made. No one, on this earth has your same view points, perspective, or experiences. When you share your truth it is your own unique story that no one can duplicate.
Have other women talked about a twist out? Yes. But know one can talk about a twist out like you can because your view point is unique. For example, have you watched Iron Chef? Two chefs can use the same main ingredient and come out with two totally different recipes. The difference is all in what each chef adds to the main ingredient. And so it is with blogging. Don’t listen to the voice in your head that wants you to focus on what other bloggers are doing. Just listen to your heart and share your story.
There is someone out there that only you can get too. Only you have a story that will capture that person. Be confident, be bold, and share your story.
